Medicine, emerging technologies, health, disability, and illness are central to culture. They are in a dynamic mutual relationship with society, politics, and values. The Medical and Health Humanities minor will take a critical approach to medicine, drawing on humanistic tools, including art, conceptual analysis, creative writing, critical theory, literary criticism and analysis, discourse analysis, history, narrative approaches to the clinical encounter, and psychoanalysis.
